Are you sure that your software is installed correctly?
- The following lists provide the Quicken data file set extensions in Windows, Mac and DOS. The first file listed is the primary data file. The other extensions are auxiliary files that contain supporting data, such as online banking setup or tax profile information.
- However I still have a corrupt database which left me questioning the stability of the whole system. I tried a QXF export and import into a blank file but that still resulted in a corrupted QDF. I then exported my data to a QIF file. I created a new blank QDF and imported this data.
- We explain what QDF-BACKUP files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your QDF-BACKUP files. What is a QDF-BACKUP file? Every day thousands of users submit information to us about which programs they use to open specific types of files.
Have you tried this?

'2016 .. Release R8(or higher)', https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-2016-windows-release-notes-updates-and-mondo-patch
For update instructions go to the appropriate webpage above.
Even if you already are on the latest release please do this:
Locate the Mondo Patch file in the link above.
Download it and save it to disk.
Temporarily disable your Antivirus software for the entire duration of the next
step: Install (run) the downloaded patch file.
This will replace any Quicken software modules with a known consistent release
level and, hopefully, eliminate any software corruption or errors during
installation as a cause of this issue.

For the quicken files, if you have something on the current computer in the data directory, copy it out somehwere, then you can take all the quicken data files, idx qpl qph, etc, and put them in the data directory. All you should have to do in Quicken is open the newer file. Intuit Quicken for Mac Data File. QDFM file is an Intuit Quicken for Mac Data File. Quicken is a personal finance management tool, with a vast array of features.
Since there isn't a way that I'm aware of to unload the entire QDF to some 'unload format' (minus any corrupted data records), and then reload that into a new, blank QDF the only way may be to start completely from scratch: Click File / New Quicken File and start over with adding accounts and transactions.
EWC connection problems:
If you have to go through a deactivate / reactivate cycle, you should always deactivate all accounts at this bank, including any old, long closed, hidden accounts that are still activated for downloading. Only when you deactivate all EWC-connected accounts will the Quicken download server involved in the EWC process be able to start from scratch, without old previously downloaded data getting in the way.

If you ever have a problem in Quicken where you cannot backup your QDF data file, and you cannot even copy your QDF data file, then you may want to try the following.
This allowed me to save my mom’s Quicken data after nothing else worked (i.e. validate/repair did not work) and all the other solutions I found online did not work.
This particular problem was caused by bad blocks on a failing SSD, but it could have just as easily been a bad HDD. The issue was that the bad blocks were at approximately 230MB into the file. That meant that any copying or backing up would fail right there as well, resulting in a failure notice in Quicken and an incomplete backup/copy. Likewise, even a simple Windows file copy attempt would faily.
Thankfully, by using Force-Copy as shown below I was able to copy/recover the QDF file, validate it and then start using it again with very minimal data loss (about 96KB).
If you have questions about this process, feel free to comment below and I will try to help! 🙂
Force-Copy copied the file!

GUI Alternative
If you prefer a more graphical approach to recovering/copying files, you may want to check into Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier. Force-Copy is very precise and returns the absolute most recoverable data, Unstoppable copier is somewhat more approachable in its usage. See screenshots below…
